Dr Varun Sharma is consultant in Neonatology with more than 12 years of experience in the field of newborn care. After doing his MBBS from TNMC Medical college (Nair hospital, Mumbai), he completed his post-graduation from RNT Medical college in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Thereafter, he was selected for senior residency at All India Institute of Medical sciences, New Delhi. He got an opportunity to work with experienced professors who were stalwarts in their respective division of pediatric sub-speciality. He was involved in academics and research work in AIIMS. He has worked as a junior consultant for three years at Jaslok hospital, which is one of the premiere institute in Mumbai. His interest in Neonatology continued and he completed his fellowship of two years in Neonatology at University hospital Southampton, United Kingdom under the accreditation of Royal college of Pediatrics and child health, London. Dr Varun Sharma is specialised in taking care of extreme preterm babies and sick newborn. He is skilled in all the neonatal procedures, point of care USG and Echocardiography. He has also been trained in simulation for teaching, newborn resuscitation, ethical issues, quality improvement, communication with families, antenatal counselling, neonatal ventilation and nutrition through various workshops and CME. Dr Varun has also contributed to research by publishing few research papers, care reports and chapters in pediatric textbook. Before joining Surya hospital, he was working at Neoclinic children hospital, Jaipur as a senior consultant in neonatology for 1.5 years. There he was involved in management of sick neonates along with the training of the neonatal fellows and the nurses. He also looked after day-to-day working of the NICU and infection control. He was involved in multiple quality improvement initiatives to improve neonatal care. He also attended delivery and transport of extreme preterm babies. Currently, he has joined Surya family with a vision to contribute for achieving excellence in care of newborn. Consultation timing/ OPD : 11 am to 4 pm.
